Splash & Dash

My friend Cassie and I have decided to combine our strengths and do a biathlon together. BYU calls it a Splash and Dash and in the team event I will be swimming the mile and Cassie will be running the 10K. Cassie runs races all the time and is in amazing shape....I however haven't swam competitively since high school and even then I wasn't very good. It's all about getting into shape and having fun though. We decided that since she's from Caliente, NV and I'm from Puyallup, WA that we'd name our team CAl-IUPE! So far training is going pretty well even though I haven't dropped my time much I am pretty sure that it's good for my body. Wish me luck.

IT'S A RACE!

First Five

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me!

my choice. for you. this offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. what I create will be just for you.
3. it’ll be done this year.
4. you have no clue what it’s going to be … it may be cards, a poem, a bookmark, something yummy or a complete surprise to you (and me) … who knows? not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
6. most importantly, you must offer the same deal on your blog - the first 5 people to comment on your blog (or if you do not have a blog, facebook) get something made by YOU! the first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me …

Любо́вь зла́, полю́бишь и козла́.

The title of this blog is a Russian proverb that literally means...."love is evil, you'll love even a goat" our version of that is "love is blind"! The other day, out of frustration and watching my engaged friends carry on I signed up on LDSSINGLES....don't judge. I was thinking of a catchy username that describes my personality in some way, but it's more difficult than you'd think. Finally, I settled on Pycckie314 because pycckie is how you spell Russian in Russian. It's a crude form because we don't have the same alphabet but it's close enough that if you know Russian you can see that it says Russian. The 314 is my birthday so that fits also. I was content with my username and then some of my friends that saw my profile asked why I chose to call myself picky314....that's how they read it was picky as in not easily pleased. I just rolled my eyes since I didn't think it said that at all because when I look at it I see Russian and I've had Russians comment on my username because they know it says Russian. However, when I asked a guy I had been chatting with what he thought my username meant he agreed with my friends and said he thought it meant I am picky. I couldn't believe it! This whole time all these guys probably look at my profile and say, "well she's cute but I'm not going to talk to her because she's picky!" I would change it but I'm not staying on the website after another week. I gave it a trial run and I don't think it was for me.

Sister Waddington

Some friends of mine and I went to do baptisms at the temple while I was home for Christmas. It was a great experience as always and we had a funny thing happen to us on the way home. I needed to return the card of the relative I had done the baptism for to my Grandma and headed toward north hill. My friend needed to stop by Beehive book store to find a book and so we stopped. As we checked out at the front counter, the cashier asked if we were sister missionaries and we just turned to each other and laughed as we realized what we looked like. We had just done baptisms and so we had undone hair, no make-up and were wearing skirts on a Tues.....yeah we looked like sister missionaries. When we arrived to my Grandma's house we couldn't help but pull out the camera and try and see if we could capture our look...it worked too well. hmmm....maybe this picture is telling me something. If I was technically savvy I would pull up one of those survey things Becca always does and see who thinks i should go on a mission. Of course knowing my family it wouldn't be much of a contest.

Proof That I Can't Sing!

My nieces and nephews don't like it when I sing. You may say, Heather that's not true of course they love to hear you sing, but I have many examples that proof that they don't. This past spring I would take each of the Hatley children out on "dates." It was their special time and we could do whatever. When I would take Jess out on her dates we would be driving and I would turn on the radio and start singing along. I glanced in my review mirror to see how she was doing and she had her fingers plugging her ears! I would stop singing and the fingers would come out and then I would start up again and she would continue to plug her ears. I kid you not this actually happened! At the same time I was working for Michelle and as I would run errands for her I would bring along Kaden. The radio was usually tuned to some gansta music and there is this one song that was played a lot. The chorus of the song says...Shorty got low, low, low, low. Whenever this song came on I would sing along and Kaden is apparently a lot more forward than Jess because he would yell... No Shorty, no, no, no! Translation of that is "stop singing yoyo." The third example of my inability to sing is just the other day when I was playing with my nephew Calvin. I wanted a picture of him smiling and so Becca recommended that I sing the ABC song to him, and then he'll smile for sure and you can take the pic. I have my phone centered on him ready to take the pic and I am singing away and the very second I see some movement around him mouth I snap the pic. As I looked closer at the pic I had taken I realized he wasn't smiling at all and when I looked up at the real Calvin he had large amounts of spit up coming out. I happened to actually catch him as the first bits of spit up were coming out. So to sum up the evidence of my claim I will remind you that the most honest and lovable people in my life have plugged their ears, shouted at me to stop singings, and then literally vomited when they heard me try and serenade them. I rest my case.

Slow Walker

I knew I was a slow walker, but I guess I didn't realize how slow I really am. Whenever I walk with Paul I have to jog to keep up, but that is the case with most people that walk with Paul. The other day it dawned on me just how slow I walk when I was going from class to class and there was a girl that was passing me on my left and she had a walking cast...she broke her foot yet still walks faster than I do...sheeesh.

Eisley

My new roommate's name is Heather. Oddly enough we also live in a housing complex named Heather Heights. I decided that it would be less confusing for our apartment if I went by a different name. I don't have a middle name so it was up to me to choose a new name. Eisley is the name of a band I really like and the name is also attractive and so I decided to take it on as a nickname that everyone in my ward will call me and even some people at work who have decided to call me Eisley instead of Heather. When I hear people call me Eisley it's like I am a different person....it's a weird sensation. Along with the new name comes a new person. I've decided that Eisley is a pre-med student and is awesome at tennis...haha ok ok I'll still be a poli sci major that only rocks at wii tennis.
