Bus Stop Adventures

After work yesterday I stopped at the store and picked up some groceries. I had four bags when I left the store...I remember this vividly since I bagged them myself. However, when I was walking home from the bus stop I only had three and so I assumed that I had left one on the bus by mistake. Today after work I was talking to Mom and did not stop at the store but headed straight to the bus stop to go home. I was sitting there chatting and waiting when I dropped something on the ground and as I went to pick it up I found my bag of yogurt that I had left the day before. It was untouched except from the sunrays beating down upon it. I took it home anyway to through away even though it was painful since that was 6 bucks worth of yogurt, but for some reason I felt right being the one to through it away as if balance was now brought to earth.

Washington Pride

Today I was on campus and missed my bus to go home and since it felt like -20 degrees outside I refused to walk home. I had a good 25 minutes before my next bus that I used to study some flash cards for my class and people watch. I started to pay more attention to the people when I realized that most of the people were running. Some were dressed nicely others in plain clothes and none were running for exercises. It seemed that there was an event that everyone was late for but that theory was squashed when they weren't all running in the same direction. I was giving this odd situation my full attention since I was starting to think that maybe I should start running. Could Mount Timpanogas (I say mountian lightly) have erupted or is Godzilla heading my way :) I then realized that it was sprinkling and that was why everyone was running...the Washingtonian in my had a good laugh.

Heather's mail?

At my apartment there is a wall of locked mailboxes but if you receive a package that is too big to fit in a box they just sit it on top for the owner to grab when they see it. I have received a couple items that are too large for my cubby and so they were sitting on top. The other day I saw a small box waiting for me and I grabbed and looked it over and realized it was from a cosmetics company and I was thinking that I didn't order anything but I'll open it anyways and see what it is. I opened that letter and half opened the package before realizing there are two Heather's that live in my apartment complex...whoops. I put it back but she doesn't live here anymore anyway so I couldn't apologize.

How to handle an awkward note

Today at work a socially handicapped-hard to hear-5 foot 6-asian bus boy decided to hand me a note as he was on his way out the door after his shift. I thought it was garbage and so I asked him if he wanted me to throw it away for him because it was a folder post-it note. He said, "No, read it!" I opened it and in very sketchy handwriting I read- Heather, Do you want go out on a date with me. Just asking if you don't want doesn't matter- and then he added his email address I guess in case I was so overwhelmed by his good looks and charm and I didn't feel comfortable calling him I could email him. I said thanks and put it in my pocket. I will not be emailing him...I will be continuing my no dating policy even if people call ME socially handicapped.

Soggy Shorts

I had to jump in the water to "save" a kid today at my lifeguarding job. What happened was that there was this kid and he was an alright swimmer and so I let him go off the diving board. The problem was that after the 10th time he was so exhausted that he couldn't make it to the side and looked up at me with panic in his eyes and said "help me!" I jumped in the water and helped him to the side and was soaking wet the rest of the day. It was kind of embarrassing because I panicked and forgot to blow the whistle to let the other guard know what was going on and I am sure I had enough time to get off the chair and throw him the tube but I panicked...oh well lesson learned.

Black Jeans

I don't know who is still making black jeans but they need to stop. I may be offending a lot of people by saying this but black jeans are no longer in style...actually I don't know that they ever were. The clothing industry has caught on in other ways, they no longer make MC Hammer pants, or sweaters with kittens on them. I see people wearing them sometimes and I assume they are old and then I get a closer look and either they bought them in 1992 and just pulled them out or some company is still forcing them on the shelves and suckers are buying them. Please join me now in a nation wide black jeans ban. I will be collecting donations to fund this campaign. Thank You.
